These are the first two batches of vouchers for the purchase of school supplies for the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, the amount of which reaches 63 euros per child

Benidorm begins distributing the first grants to schoolchildren aged 3 to 5 this Friday, worth 42,777 euros

Benidorm comienza a entregar este viernes las primeras ayudas a escolares de 3 a 5 años por valor de 42.777 euros

Benidorm City Council's Department of Education will begin distributing the first municipal grants for the purchase of school supplies for students in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education in Benidorm's public and private schools this Friday, August 1st. The grants are intended to help families reduce their back-to-school expenses. The councilor for the department, Maite Moreno, explained that "this first phase covers the grants for the 664 minors included in the automatic distribution made by the Department for students born in 2020 and 2021 who already received this grant last year and are still registered and meet the other requirements," as well as "the second batch of applications, which were submitted between June 1st and 30th and which covers a total of 15 beneficiaries."

Moreno noted that, as in the previous academic year, the aid will amount to 63 euros per child, an amount with which "the City Council contributes to reducing the outlay on school supplies that families registered in Benidorm have to spend this school year, when schooling is not yet compulsory. Therefore, we are also contributing to promoting early school enrollment," the councillor added.

To address this aid, the Benidorm City Council has set aside a total of 72,000 euros, of which 42,777 euros have already been awarded, corresponding to these first two instalments.

As in previous years, the City Council has established different delivery points for the vouchers, which vary depending on the school in which each beneficiary is enrolled. Thus, the Education Department, located on the third floor of City Hall, will collect vouchers for students at Gabriel Miró, Mestre Gaspar López, and Leonor Canalejas Primary Schools, as well as the Nuestra Señora de los Dolores catholic school. Els Tolls municipal branch will centralise the delivery of vouchers for students at Puig Campana and Els Tolls Primary Schools, while students at Bautista Lledó, Aitana, and Vasco Núñez de Balboa schools have been assigned the Foietes-Colonia Madrid administrative extension.

La Cala municipal branch is the collection point for families of children enrolled at La Cala and El Murtal Primary Schools; Racó de l'Oix municipal branch is the collection point for Serra Gelada Primary School; and Alfredo Corral-Maravall municipal branch is for students at Ausiàs March and Miguel Hernández Primary Schools.

The voucher will only be delivered to the applicant. If the applicant is not the applicant, a signed authorisation must be provided, along with a photocopy of both applicants' ID cards. Furthermore, duplicates will not be issued due to loss, theft, or damage.

The Councillor for Education noted that "the shopping vouchers can be redeemed until November 15th at the five Benidorm stores that have joined the initiative this year." Specifically, these collaborating establishments are Librería Contalles, Librería Francés, Librería Ulises, Gráficas Maravall, and Espriu Benidorm.

Moreno also noted that the application period for these grants "remains open until September 30th," both for 4- and 5-year-old students who did not receive the grant last year (2023-2024) due to failing to meet one of the requirements, and for the new 3-year-old students who will be joining the classroom this year. The application must be submitted online through the Benidorm City Council's Online Office at sede.benidorm.org, in the service catalogue, under Education, select the procedure: "School Supplies Grants for the 2nd Cycle of Early Childhood Education, 2025-2026 School Year."

Finally, she noted that new lists will be published in the coming weeks with the remaining grants awarded to children whose families submitted applications from July 1st onward. These grants will be distributed in separate batches and are expected to reach over a thousand beneficiaries. Finally, there will be a final batch to address the appeals submitted.
