Representatives of RTVE, Generalitat and Benidorm City Council, among which is the mayor, will learn these days about the setup and development of San Remo contest

A Benidorm Fest delegation explores possible collaboration with Sanremo Italian Festival

Just a few days after the end of the third edition of the Benidorm Fest, a delegation of the festival travelled to Sanremo to learn how the Italian event is organized and developed and to explore possible avenues of collaboration between both musical events to give them even greater impact. The delegation that has travelled to Italy is made up of representatives of the three organizing entities of the Fest: RTVE, Generalitat Valenciana and Benidorm City Council. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Festivals and Events, Jesús Carrobles, travelled on behalf of the City Council.

The 74th Sanremo Song Festival has been taking place since this Wednesday at the Ariston Theatre in the town and the Italian representative in Eurovision will leave the competition on Saturday, the 10th.

During today's day, the delegation plans to visit the backstage of Ariston theatre, and later experience the second gala of the contest live, in which 15 artists will perform. In addition, they will hold technical meetings with the people responsible for this event, with whom they will analyze the possibility of establishing avenues of collaboration for future editions.

The dynamics of Sanremo are very similar to Benidorm Fest, since in addition to being broadcast on television, the Italian festival is structured into three galas and the public intervenes in choosing the winner through televoting. The Italian event can be followed these days through the RTVE Play platform.

It is worth remembering that 1.97 million viewers followed the broadcast of the Benidorm Fest final on TVE last Saturday, with a share of 16.6%. In addition, the final of this edition has registered an increase of 90,000 viewers compared to the 2023 final. Its impact has spread to 25 countries that followed the final gala through social networks, where 187,932 mentions were made on Twitter. This event is carried out thanks to a collaboration agreement among the Generalitat Valenciana, through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and RTVE.
