Everything is ready at Guillermo Amor Sports City for the kickoff of a new edition of the Low Festival this afternoon, an event that reaches its fifteenth edition this year and is expected to attract 23,000 people daily over its three days. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, visited the festival venue this Friday, accompanied by Jesús Carrobles, Councilor for Events and Citizen Security; José Piñero, head of the promoter, Producciones Baltimore; and other municipal and organizational representatives, to learn some details about this edition, which will be remembered as the one in which The Pet Shop Boys made a stop in the city on their greatest hits tour, "Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live." Along with them, more than 70 bands and artists make up the lineup of concerts that will continue until next Sunday on the four stages available in the Sports City, featuring established names such as Empire of the Sun, The Kooks, Bomba Estéreo, Carolina Durante, Viva Suecia, Zahara, Amaia, Fangoria, and Sexy Zebras, as well as emerging acts such as Judeline, Las Petunias, Anabel Lee, Camellos, and Vera Fauna, among many others.

“Low is a brand, but it is a Benidorm brand,” Toni Pérez emphasised, referring to the festival's close relationship with the city. He noted that “there are thousands, several generations of people who love this festival and who come to Benidorm knowing that, in addition to enjoying the city itself, they will also enjoy a cutting-edge festival, with an impressive lineup over the three days and a venue that is very difficult to find anywhere else in the world.”

The mayor also emphasised that it is a festival "that is embedded in the city itself, generating a significant amount of revenue, with new markets, but also with many people who, year after year, after fifteen years, still return." Therefore, he expressed his "great joy" and hoped "that there will be at least fifteen more," in a future that he predicted would be "just as good or better."

In this regard, Toni Pérez applauded the organisation's commitment to the sustainability of the event and also to the safety of the audience, artists, and staff. Not surprisingly, as announced yesterday, a special health and safety system has been designed, with more than 200 personnel on each day. In addition, he adds measures that the festival has been implementing for years to become more sustainable, such as reducing the use of chemical toilets, installing solar panels, and more.

The mayor also expressed his hope that "the Low Festival continues to grow so well, because growth shouldn't just be numerical when you talk about a festival, but rather the quality you bring without having numerical growth." He also emphasized that "the Low Festival is a festival of comfort, of being well and coming to be happy, which is what we hope for this year: that on Sunday, when the lineup drops, people leave enchanted and in love not only with the festival, but also with the city, and that they come back."

For his part, the director of the Low Festival, José Piñero, expressed his satisfaction "with the celebration of these fifteen years" and indicated that this year there will be some performances, such as The Pet Shop Boys, that will be "impressive." For this reason, he thanked the City Council for its "collaboration and support" with this event and expressed his desire "to continue growing, to be better," and that the 23,000 people who will attend as audiences "feel the affection we continue to show in making the festival, the passion we put into it, that they forget about their daily lives for three days and be very happy."
