In its fourth edition, the music cycle proposes four free concerts of top international figures
Benidorm, city of ‘Great recitals’
The cycle of ‘Great recitals’ reaches its fourth edition in 2019 with a world-class programming. Free concerts that will take place, every Friday in October, in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm Cuty Council and will begin the day after tomorrow, day 4.
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, today has presented the programming at a press conference, accompanied by the director of the Municipal Professional Conservatory of Music ‘José Pérez Barceló’, José Miguel Mollá. Some recitals that will be "the highlight in the musical field of the Department of Culture" in the month of October. "It is," he said, "a top-notch musical offer for our city," as the curriculum and the value of the performers.
Programming ‘Great recitals’
The first concert, that of Friday 4, will be in charge of the pianist Carolina Santiago. Licensed interpreter in higher degree and master of musical interpretation by the Conservatory of Liceu de Barcelona. He has collaborated with great musicians such as the violinist Edward Powell, or the saxophonist Nacho Gascón from Benidorm too. Santiago currently is doing a doctorate in the University of Aveiro (Portugal).
On Friday, October 11, the oboist Vicente Llimerá will offer his recital accompanied by the chamber group Oboísimo. Llimerá is a doctor ‘cum laude’ by the University of Valencia, has studied postgraduate in Berlin and Salzburg (Germany). He is currently Professor of Oboe at the Superior Conservatory of Music ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’, in Valencia.
Oboísmo has the Sarajevite Vanja Skokovic, resident in Madrid, as a solo violinist. The interpreter is also a professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the Center for Higher Education ‘Progreso Musical’, in the capital of Spain.
The third concert, scheduled for October 18, will be performed by the students of Benidorm Conservatory: Israel Rivera, Sabrina Dehia, Pablo Solbes, Mar Navarro, Isabel Hurtado, Carmen Sellés and Sergi Pérez, all finalists of the Intercentros Contest of the Marina Baixa, accompanied by pianist José Maria Villegas.
The cycle of ‘Great recitals’ will end on Friday the 25th with a concert by the clarinetist from Benidorm Iván Marín, along with the pianist Alicia González. Marín began his musical training at ‘José Pérez Barceló’ and continued in the upper conservatories of Alicante and Madrid. Later, he moved to the United States where he has conducted advanced studies with professors such as Yehuda Gilad or Michele Zukovsky and collaborated with orchestras all over the country. Since 2007, back in Spain, he is the clarinet assistant of the Symphony Orchestra of Galicia and a member of the 20th Century instrumental group.
Master Classes
As a complement to the 'Great recitals', Carolina Santiago and Iván Marín will give master classes on Saturdays October 5 and 26, after their concerts, to the students of the Conservatory of Benidorm, which, in the case of Marín is “especially significant, ”said José Miguel Mollá:“ He is a student, ”he said,“ who left our classrooms and now returns to teach us, ”which corroborates the importance of the municipal center.
Finally, Jaime Jesús Pérez, recalled that, in addition to ‘Great recitals’, Benidorm will have the opportunity to enjoy two free concerts scheduled in October for the celebration of October 9, Valencian Community Day. Both on Gambo Street. The first will be on the 8th, at 10 pm, performed by Musical Society l'Illa de Benidorm; the second, on the 9th, at 8:00 p.m., performed by the Musical Society La Nova.
