An exhibition, projections and discussion and information tables to celebrate World Mental Health Day

Benidorm joins next October 10 to the celebration of World Mental Health Day with various activities, including an exhibition, the screening of several documentaries and informative and debate tables. The activities take place from tomorrow, October 3, and until October 11; and that have been organized by the Association of relatives of / and mentally ill of the Marina Baixa (AFEM), the Center for rehabilitation and social integration (CRIS), the Day Center (CD) and the Specific Center for people with mental illness (CEEM) of Benidorm - managed by Group 5-, and Integrament - a company that offers services to help improve the lives of these people and has several Mental Health Sheltered homes.

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca, has indicated that "we consider it a success that this year AFEM, the day centers, CRIS and CEEM, and Integrament have joined forces to give greater visibility and scope to this celebration." A celebration, he added, “with which we collaborate and to which we give all our support, and with which we want to raise awareness and mobilize the population about the importance of prevention and attention to mental health, while seeking put an end to prejudices towards people suffering from this type of disease and fight against the stigma associated with these pathologies ”.

During the day tomorrow, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., information tables will be installed on Alameda Street; and on Thursday, the 4th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Casa del Fester, the books ‘Diario de una enfermedad mental’ by Antonio Ramos Bernar and ‘Como tu misma’ by Susana Astro will be presented.

On Monday, October 7, at 6:00 pm, the documentary "Cerca de la salud mental" of the Amadem Association of Denia will be screened in the room of the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation on Alameda Street. The next day, at noon, the exhibition 'DelirArte' will be inaugurated in the Espai d’Art of the City Council, composed of the work done by the users of the Day Center and the CRIS of Benidorm. In the afternoon, at 4.30 pm in the City Hall, a discussion table will be held on ‘Community participation and human rights: a challenge for mental health?’ In which professionals from different areas will participate.

On Thursday, the 10th, at 12.30 pm, we will proceed to read the manifesto of the World Mental Health Day at Plaza SSMM los Reyes de España; and on Friday 11, from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., the documentary ‘Y si te dijeran que puedes’ will be screened in Caja Mediterráneo Foundation Hall.
