Students, with the help of families and teachers, stage #Pega-li La volta, inspired by 'Around the world in 80 days'
The 'around the world trip' of 115 students of the IES Mediterrània in Benidorm
The initiative arises from the institute's Writing Club, which has worked throughout the course 'Around the world in eighty days' by the French writer Julio Verne, where the adventures of Phileas Fogg are narrated, pointed out the professor of the Mediterrània Department of Music, Patricia Moreno, "adapted to the present" by the students.
Although the play is in Valencian, "it has scenes in English and French." It is the result "of an interdisciplinary project" in which the Technical Vocational Education and Training Cusine Cycle has been involved "with 'Cuisine of the World', studying the countries that Fogg travels to and that each month has prepared dishes of their typical food"; also the Cycle of Hospitality and Laundry, "with the preparation of costumes and characterization", added Moreno.
A "project of the entire centre", explained the teacher, with the contributions of the departments of Geography and History, Arts, Technology or Physical Education, the latter "responsible" for the choreography. "Even the families - Moreno stressed - collaborate with the make-up and the organization of the project".
The music of #Pega-li la volta has been performed by the students. The play was performed today for first-year Secondary School students from the IES Mediterrània and 4th and 5th Primary students from CEIP El Murtal and La Cala. Two more sessions will take place tomorrow, in this case for the families of the student actors.
