The aid amounts to 106,000 euros and will go to the purchase of fresh products and basic necessities

Agreements signed with social entities and parishes to reinforce care for people in vulnerable situations

04 December 2020
Agreements signed with social entities and parishes to reinforce care for people in vulnerable situations...

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has received this morning in his office representatives of the parishes and social entities with which the City Council has signed agreements to deliver financial aid for a global amount of 106,000 euros. Money that will be used to reinforce the care for people in vulnerable situations that these entities and parishes carry out.

In this specific case, the aid will be used to buy fresh food, the so-called perishable, a need detected through the Food Bank and which at this time is even more important to help people who are in vulnerable situations , and that comes to complement the action and care carried out by the Department of Social Welfare led by Ángela Llorca.

The measure was approved by the Local Government Board last Monday, November 30 and, after the signing of the aforementioned agreements today, 30,000 euros will be delivered to the Red Cross, 12,000 euros to Solidaridad Benidorm, 4,000 euros to Caritas of the parish of San Francisco, and 12,000 euros for each of the Caritas services in the parishes of Sant Jaume i Santa Ana, El Carmen, Buen Pastor, La Almudena and Virgen del Mar.

As the mayor explained this week, "these funds have been designed according to the considerations transferred by the different parishes and entities", which together serve about 2,400 people in vulnerable situations. Since the month of March, with the arrival of the Covid-19, the City Council launched a program of aid in the hands of the parishes of Benidorm to expand the radius of attention to these people and complement the action and resources of the Department of Social Welfare.

Specifically, between the months of April and June, agreements were signed with Cáritas from the different parishes of Benidorm for a global amount of 82,500 euros; amount to which is added the 106,000 approved this week, which will be used to purchase non-perishable, fresh and basic necessities.
