The 55 unemployed people over 30 years old hired by the City Council to meet needs derived from the Covid-19 pandemic have joined their positions today, where they will work for the next 6 months. These contracts are part of the ECOVID2020 program, launched by LABORA in coordination with the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE) and financed through the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), for which the City Council has obtained a grant of 661,598.57 euros.

The councilors for Employment and Local Promotion and Human Resources, Mónica Gómez and Ángela Zaragozí, have welcomed these 55 people, chosen after the selection process coordinated by the Espai LABORA of Benidorm and the City Council itself among those who were registered as applicants for employment in the occupation of 'Employees of the customer service department'.

Gómez has detailed that these workers will provide “full-time information and prevention services in different educational centers or spaces; as well as in sports facilities, social centers, and other municipal offices and public spaces ”.

Specifically, 23 people have been assigned to the department of Education and will carry out their functions in Primary and Secondary educational centers, the Official Language School, UNED, 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Conservatory of Music and Dance and the department of Education. Another 14 people will be assigned to municipal sports facilities and to attend programs promoted by the City Council. The rest of the staff will provide service in the departments of Social Welfare, Commerce, Historical Heritage, Employment, Culture, Events, Festivities, Printing and Cemeteries.

The person in charge of Employment and Local Promotion explained that this program was aimed "fundamentally, at those people over 30 who lost their jobs due to the economic and social situation caused by the pandemic." Likewise, she recalled that "in a few days the process of selecting candidates for another employment program, EMPUJU, will be opened, aimed at unemployed persons under 30 years of age and with which eight people will be hired." In fact, the City Council has today registered in LABORA the offer with the positions demanded, all of them for the occupation of ‘Building Maintenance’.
