II Municipal Plan for Sexual, Family and Gender Diversity in Benidorm 2024-2028
Benidorm City Council, continuing with the development of municipal measures and actions already initiated with its I Municipal LGTBI Plan 2016-2020, has drawn up the “II Municipal Plan for Family, sexual and gender diversity of Benidorm 2024-2028”, an instrument designed to recognise and expand the rights of citizens, and especially of LGTBI people and families, by promoting policies that guarantee real equality and respect for diversity; promoting the eradication of obstacles that prevent sexual and gender freedom.
This Plan is based on the diagnosis of the situation of LGTBI people in our municipality, the study of their needs and the development of strategies, opportunities and actions in favour of real equality, with a transversal approach where all the Councillors, areas and municipal services participate, focusing on the work of community action, to promote equality and respect for LGTBI diversity, offering responses from which to improve health, well-being, protection and comprehensive care for LGTBI people and families from municipal public services.
The Plan, which includes actions such as the creation of specific spaces on the municipal website, training and support for local associations, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with entities to promote an inclusive and non-discriminatory environment, is structured into four strategic lines:

Awareness and training
Promotion of the city as a safe and friendly destination for the LGTBI community.
In this way, the aim is to promote positive and non-discriminatory attitudes towards LGTBI people and families, contributing to the visibility, equality, non-discrimination and participation of LGTBI people in all areas of life.
