From July 2 to 6 the classes will be combined with free concerts and open to the public
The XXX International Music Course brings together in Benidorm the best teachers and students of five specialties
The activities are complemented by the XX Music Contest, this year focused on the trumpet specialty
Benidorm will become next week and for five days in "a benchmark in the world of music" and "a meeting point" for the best teachers and students of five musical specialties, as indicated today by the Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, during the presentation of the XXX International Music Course of the city. An edition that starts next Monday, July 2, which gives students "the opportunity" to learn from the hands of first-rate teachers, and which, in turn, offers citizens the chance to enjoy auditions and concerts unique
Pellicer, who has been accompanied by the director of the Course, Pepe Fuster, has detailed that this edition focuses on the specialties of piano, saxophone, cello, trumpet and composition; and has highlighted the level of the staff of teachers of this edition, all musicians of "considered name" with outstanding teaching careers and professionals in organizations and musical institutions around the world.
Thus, the classes will be taught by the pianist Ángel Sanzo, professor at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Badajos; saxophonist Nikita Zimin, president of the Eurasian Saxophone Association, Selmer artist and professor at the College of musical performance by F.Chopin; Michal Dmochowsky, assistant professor at the Reina Sofia School of Music and professor of cello at the Jacinto Guerrero Conservatory in Toledo; the trumpeter Germán Asensi, soloist professor of the Symphonic Orchestra of RTVE and professor at the CSKG; and Ricardo Llorca, a teacher at 'The Juilliard School', 'Queen Sofia Spanish Institute' in New York and composer in residence of the 'New York Opera Society'.
Of the 93 enrolled in this edition, "53 professors or students of our bands or the José Pérez Barceló Music Conservatory of Benidorm" who have been granted partial or full scholarships by the City Council.
During the five days of the Course, students will receive master classes during the morning and afternoon; while in the evening the concerts by teachers and students will be the protagonists throughout the week. From Monday to Thursday, these free performances, open to the general public, will be at 10:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the City Council; and that of Friday, July 6, is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
The Councilor for Culture recalled that the inaugural concert will be offered by local musician Víctor Teuler, winner last year of the Music Contest in the specialty of trombone and who will be accompanied on piano by Pedro Mercado.
XX Benidorm Music Contest
Students enrolled in the course may also participate in the XX Benidorm Music Course, which this year "is dedicated to the trumpet specialty". Pellicer has indicated that in this contest the participants will choose "to the Special Prize of the City council, that consists of offering the inaugural concert of the International Course next year", and also "to the prizes donated by collaborating musical entities".
The collaborators of this edition of the Course are: the Municipal Music Conservatory 'Jo'se Pérez Barceló', Stomvi, Upsound, Peris Editorial, Consolat del Mar, Custom Pro, Clemente Pianos, Hotel Prince Park and the Department of Education, Culture and Sports.
