World Cleanup Day 2020, Day of cleaning the seabed of the Bay of Benidorm
Today around twenty divers have cleaned the seabed in the bay of Benidorm on the occasion of the celebration of World Cleanup Day 2020.
The Department of Environment, the technicians have selected up to three cleaning and tracking areas; depending on the state of the sea in which the operation has been carried out.
World Cleanup Day is part of a global program aimed at combating the global problem of solid waste, also in the seas.
This initiative is held every third Saturday in September. In Benidorm, the arrival and preparation of the divers and equipment has been scheduled at 9 in the morning in the area of the Nautical Club. The teams have sailed, together with the support units, at 10 in the morning and have gone, from the mouth of the port, to the chosen point where the cleaning operation has been carried out.
The expedition has had support vessels and for the transport of the equipment and removal of the collection at sea.
In addition to Benidorm City Council and the Department of the Environment, Maritime Rescue of the Red Cross, Natural Parks, Indra -one of the main global consulting and technology companies-, Garmin and AON along with commercial companies and activities such as Revolution Dive, Old Town, Greenwich Marina and Tidal Wave.
