Benidorm grants 40,500 euros to support local commerce and services

19 September 2020
Benidorm concede 40.500 euros para apoyar al comercio local y a los servicios

The local Government Board approved in its session yesterday a new remittance of aid, raised by the Technical Commission for the Assessment of Subsidies, aimed at supporting local trade and services against the effects generated by the pandemic.

The amount of the sixth remittance, which includes 46 references, is 40,500 euros. 53 applications were presented, seven of them being denied for not complying with aspects contained in the bases or for not having a fiscal domicile in Benidorm, a question that also argued the dismissal of an appeal.

The aid in this case amounts to 1,000 euros for those shops and service establishments that were affected by the closure of the establishment; to 750 euros for those who saw their turnover reduced by at least 40% between March 14 and April 19 with respect to the average of the previous six months, or the period of high activity; and 500 euros for applicants who have been beneficiaries of municipal aid to families.

These municipal aid, as indicated by Mayor Toni Pérez at the time of its approval in July, are compatible with those announced by the Generalitat Valenciana. To provide them financially, the City Council gave 2.6 million euros.

In this line of actions in support of local commerce, at the beginning of the pandemic and to help local commerce in this episode of health crisis, the Employment and Local Promotion Agency of the Department of Employment and the Department of Commerce itself launched “Benidorm compra en casa” campaign to promote online shopping, home delivery and similar initiatives.
