Volunteers of 'Clean up the World' collect 300 kilos of garbage on the island of Benidorm
The Neighborhood Council considers the posibility of acting next year in La Cala del Ti Ximo or Almadreña
About 80 people participated on Sunday in the second day of the 'Clean up the World' campaing on the island of Benidorm collecting about 300 kilos of garbage. The initiative, which is developing worldwide and sponsored by the Organization of the Unit (ONU) Nations has been organized by the city of Benidorm, on a proposal by the Neighborhood Council, and has been coordinated by the departments of Citizen Participation, Street Cleaning and Environment.
The Golondrina, the boat, has moved the volunteers to the island. The councillor for Citizen Participation, María Jesús Pinto, who was a participant in the work of collection, appreciated highly the campaign this year. "It's nice to see how citizens are involved," she said and showed confident that "each year more people join." On behalf of the Neighborhood Council, Juan Antonio Lizancos, wanted to point out that "we are already working" in the next edition and announced that it will take place "the third weekend of September," and possibly we will act in"La Cala del Ti Ximo or Almadrava ". In 'Clean up the World' participated: volunteers, Doble Amor center, ASMIBE, Tapis, Aspanion, Aerbeco, Fire, Association Socio-Cultural of the local police, the Ecuadorian Association of Benidorm, Red Cross, Horizontes Group Scout, diving centers: Nissos and Diving Stones, the guide of Serra Gelada Natural Park, the guardian of the City Hall, and supported by the FCC, La Generala, Terra Natura, Aqua Natura and Marine Excursions companies.
