The VIII Children's Sports Fair of Benidorm opens its doors tomorrow at Palau d'Esports
The Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, and the coordinator of the municipal sports monitors, Alfonso Alonso, have presented this morning the eighth edition of the Christmas Children's Sports Fair to be held, from tomorrow and until Thursday, at Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm.
The Fair is aimed at students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Primary Education in Benidorm in the morning, from 9.30 am to 1 pm; and the participants of the XXXVI School Sports Games and students of the Municipal Sports Schools in the afternoons, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. With this initiative it is intended "to occupy - said Arturo Cabrillo - a space in the leisure time of our young people, beyond the conventional sports, linking them to another type of alternative activities that they will be able to know through their participation in the Fair" .
The councillor has also specified that all activities will be held inside the Palau d'Esports and that municipal sports technicians will be "responsible for encouraging and implementing all activities and games" with the "invaluable" collaboration of the students of TAFAD cycle (Superior Technician in Animation and Physical and Sports Activities) of the International School Lope de Vega. This year's Sports Fair is also committed to solidarity and proposes to participants and people who, during these days, go to the Palau, to collect a non-perishable food "with the aim -as Cabrillo pointed out- of making it available to the most needy "through the Red Cross,
For his part, Alfonso Alonso has announced that the Department of Sports will make available to primary school students buses to move them from schools to the Palau. "On Wednesday there will be about 850 students and on Thursday 880 will be expected," he said. The coordinator of monitors has also said that with the collaboration of the students of the Physical Sports Training course that takes place at the Palau, they will participate in sports activities aimed at people with disabilities, such as the ball with a rattle in which the participants are blindfolded.
In the VIII Sports Fair you can enjoy, among others, these activities: skating, pilota valenciana (raspall, fronton and one wall), tennis, paddle, basketball, inflatables (american track, wipaout, castle, football and basketball), shooting with bow, colpbol, handball, freisbee, giant ball, badminton, shutleball, darts, aerobics, table tennis and chess.
