'Turandot', the opera by Puccini arrives in Benidorm on Friday
Next Friday, July 14, the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Hall will host the broadcast of the well-known opera 'Turandot' by the composer Giacomo Puccini, which will be performed at Teatro Real in Madrid. The event will take place at 9:00 p.m. and admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
This is one of the main activities prepared by the Department of Culture for this summer and is part of the Opera Week that Madrid Theater celebrates.
Nicola Luisotti and Diego García will be the musical directors, while the stage director will be in charge of Robert Wilson.
'Turandot' is a lyrical drama in three acts that takes place in a legendary and mysterious Beijing. Princess Turandot challenges her suitors to solve three riddles and if they do they will win her heart. If not, they will die. Prince Calaf, in love at first sight, accepts the challenge. Emotions reach their peak when Calaf and Turandot face off in a musical and emotional duel. Love, passion, and sacrifice are intertwined in this journey destined to melt the frozen heart of the princess.
'Turandot' is considered to be Giacomo Puccini's masterpiece and transports audiences to a fantasy land based on a Western conception of China. In this universe proposed by the stage director, the most important thing is light, line, and color from the first moment to the brilliant ending.
The performance will last approximately two and a half hours including the break.
