The City Council extends the opening days and maintains guided tours to find out the details of the ‘castellum’
Tossal de La Cala site, open every day
More than 4,200 people have visited Tossal since the beginning of August
Starting this week, Tossal de La Cala site will be open to the public seven days a week and will maintain guided tours, which can be made by prior reservation. This is how the Councilor for Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has transferred it today, who has pointed out that “we have extended the opening of the 'castellum' to Saturday afternoon and Sunday to facilitate visits during weekends to all those interested in learn more about this recently musealized archaeological site, which constitutes a national benchmark for Roman military architecture of the late imperial era ”.
With this extended hours, the ‘castellum’ can be visited from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:30, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 09:00 to 18:00. With regard to the guided visits, the frequency and schedules are maintained: Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guided tours work by reservation through the email patrimonihistoric@benidorm.org.
Pellicer has indicated that “with the daily opening and with the guided visits we intend to continue bringing our historical heritage and, with it, our roots for both residents and visitors; an objective that was in the essence of the project of excavation, recovery and musealization of Tossal ”.
The councillor highlighted that “the figures of people who have visited the site since its opening in early August show that the historical heritage arouses the interest of the public, interested in knowing what the‘ castellum ’was like and how it worked; information that appears collected in the panels installed in the enclosure as well as in the audio guide hosted on the municipal website and which can be easily accessed with a ‘smartphone’ through a QR code ”.
In total, between August 5 and October 31, 4,259 people have visited Tossal.
