The mayor defends the measures implemented to reduce the density and speed of traffic in the urban area
Toni Pérez reaffirms Benidorm's commitment to sustainable mobility at the closing of the III Benimov Forum
Throughout the weekend, Avenida del Mediterráneo hosts a display of the newest electric vehicles on the market, which the public can drive.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, participated this Friday in the closing ceremony of the third edition of the Benimov Forum, an event focused on urban mobility, vehicles, and sustainable technology and which is one of the main points of Benimov Experience 2023, which continues throughout the weekend with the Electric Vehicle Fair on Mediterranean Avenue. “A great tourist destination, a leader in tourism such as Benidorm, required a strategic mobility plan that until very recently it did not have. When we came to the municipal government in 2015, it was one of the first things we decided to do,” recalled the first mayor.
Likewise, he highlighted that all the actions carried out since then, such as the pedestrianization of the central almond of the city, the implementation of the Low Emissions Zone, the reduction of speed or the expansion of bike lanes, "have converted into a testing laboratory and also a reference for other cities.”
This third edition of Benimov Forum occurred throughout the day in El Torrejó Municipal Building. At the closing ceremony, the first councilor wanted to praise the work of the Mobility councilor until a few months ago, José Ramón González de Zárate, for the work carried out over the years, which the organizers recognized: the Independent Association of Benidorm Merchants (Aico) and the consulting firm CHao. Likewise, Toni Pérez expressed the municipal commitment to continue advancing in actions to reduce the emission of polluting gases that traffic generates in the atmosphere and said "he has no doubts" that the new mayor responsible, Francis Muñoz, and his technical team will continue with the work started in the previous stage: “There is no other possible path,” he concluded.
Next, the participants in the Forum also participated in the official opening of the Benimov Fair, which this year reaches its fourth edition. The Mediterranean Avenue is the showcase where, throughout the weekend, the latest electric and hybrid vehicles that have come to market will be exhibited and in which exhibitors from the leading automobile brands will participate. In addition, the public will have the opportunity to test them.
