Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas beaches have once again revalidated the 'Q' flag for Tourist Quality, with which the City Councils decided commitment to the application of quality management standards in this case applied to the beaches is recognized. . The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the Councilor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, today have received this award from the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, at an event held in Madrid organized by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality ( ICTE).

Gómez has pointed out that “the 'Q' for Tourist Quality comes to endorse once again Benidorm's commitment to the quality of the services of its beaches, as well as the daily work in managing them, also adding to other recognitions such as the Blue Flag and the Qualitur Flag that are already flying in Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas ”.

The mayor stressed that "in addition to quality, this year we added for our beaches a new key and essential factor: that of health security." Gómez stressed that "thanks to the design and application of our‘ Benidorm Beach Safety ’project, we guarantee the safety distance between beach users so that they can enjoy them in the freedom to feel safe and protected."

'Benidorm Beach Safety' is a modular and versatile system that adapts to the demand and needs that the beaches present at all times, which have been configured on plots of 16 square meters - with a maximum occupancy ranging between 4 and 5 people- and divided into three spaces for people over 60 years of age, for the general population and for hammocks managed by the concession company. In addition, corridors connecting the sea and the plots have been established, and a 6-meter strip for pedestrian traffic between the shore and the plots.
