The Plenary Hall of Benidorm City Council has hosted this afternoon the meeting of the Territorial Council of Vocational EducationTraining in the Marina Baixa, a meeting that has served to renew the members of this council and reactivate its Technical Commission to improve the offer of Vocational Training Cycles in this region and adapt it to the new demands and needs of the labour market.
The general director of Vocational Training of the Generalitat Valenciana, Marta Armendia, has been in charge of presiding over this session together with the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, in a meeting in which the councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, councillors or education technicians from other municipalities of the Marina Baixa, such as Altea, La Nucía, La Vila Joiosa or l’Alfàs del Pi, the inspector and the FP prospector in the region, as well as representatives of the educational centres, the unions CC OO and UGT, the LABORA service and the business confederation CEV have also participated.
Among the main issues addressed at this Council, the need to reactivate the Technical Commission to configure the new course stands out, as explained by the general director. In this sense, Marta Armendia has pointed out that at this time the teaching centres of the region are in the process of requesting new training cycles for the next academic year 2025-2026, so she has considered it a "priority" that all these requests can be reported, assessed and discussed within this Territorial Council.
Likewise, the representative of the Ministry of Education has put on the table the need to give greater presence to the business part in these entities, as a consequence of the new FP model, and to reinforce in turn the presence of the educational inspection.
In the Marina Baixa, there are twelve public centres with Vocational Training offers, of which five are located in Benidorm. They offer more than 60 training cycles belonging to 18 different professional families, which reflects the great variety that exists and is accessible to the population.
