Culture resumes this Friday the Cycle of Great Recitals with the 'Iberian Echoes' of Yalodee Duo
Benidorm Town Hall will be on the stage tomorrow, Friday, for the second of the concerts included in the Cycle of Great Recitals organized by the Department of Culture directed by the councillor Jaime Jesús Pérez for this 2025, an annual cycle that brings together high-quality performers with a recognized professional career in the city. 'Ecos Ibéricos' is the title that gives its name to this concert, starring the percussionists of Yalodee Duo, formed by Alejandro Correas and Benidorm native Iván Mesas, who will put on stage "a repertoire that covers a wide musical range and offers a unique experience around Spanish music and culture, fusing music and dance", as the councillor of the area has conveyed.
Not in vain, along with two percussionists who make up this ensemble, the percussionist Antonio Sebastiá and the dancers Aurelia de la Cruz and Diana López also collaborate in the show.
Jaime Jesús Pérez has reported that the concert will take place at 8 pm in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council and has reminded that, “like the vast majority of cultural activities that we organise from the City Council, entry is free and open to the public, until the room is full.”
The ‘Ecos Ibéricos’ programme will start with a selection from ‘Suite española’ by Isaac Albéniz, a collection of piano pieces inspired by and dedicated to various regions of Spain and their traditions, each with its distinctive character and style. Among them, we listen to the serenade ‘Granada’, the saeta ‘Cádiz’, or the whim ‘Cuba’.
The repertoire will continue with ‘La Vida Breve’ (Dance No. 1) by Manuel de Falla, one of the most famous pieces by this fundamental composer in Spanish classical music. The duo arrangement offers a unique and exciting perspective on this classic work, in which the percussionists will use the marimba to interpret the beautiful melodies and complex textures of the original score, highlighting the rhythmic vitality and dynamic expressiveness of the piece.
This will be followed by the performance of ‘Recuerdos de la Alhambra’ by Francisco Tárrega, originally for guitar and reinterpreted for the marimba; ‘El Vito’, a popular Andalusian song, adapted on this occasion for percussion and dance; and ‘Orobroy’ by David Peña Dorantes, a piece that fuses flamenco with jazz elements, which will end this recital.
Jaime Jesús Pérez has announced that the next event in the Great Recitals Cycle will take place on February 21, with ‘Campanas’ by pianist Fabio Afrune.
