The reform and expansion works of Raúl Mesa pavilion and Guillermo Amor Sports City are heading towards the final stretch. This was confirmed by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who was visiting the facility early in the morning accompanied by the councilors of Sports and Public Space, Mariló Cebreros and José Ramón González de Zárate, other members of the government team and technicians from the company in charge of carrying out the work.

The work has a budget of 900,474 euros and obtained a grant of 294,000 from the Alicante Provincial Council, framed within the 'Plan + Cerca 2020' and as the execution deadlines progress, it is expected that the sport could return to the pavilion in summer.

Raúl Mesa pavilion is a facility that already has more than 35 years. Over time, humidity problems and other problems typical of the age of the work were detected that now, thanks to municipal investment, will be solved.

The roof is being completely renovated, accessibility is being improved to allow access for people with functional diversity and spaces have been created for spectators, with a new grandstand, new changing rooms, and an area for the media that follow the clubs that They are based in the Raúl Mesa.

After the tour of the works, Toni Pérez recalled that the objective of this action is to provide "better conditions of use and safety" to one of the "most popular and used by athletes" facilities and, in this project in Specifically, he highlighted "the integration with the Ciudad Deportiva environment" and with "a neighborhood as special as Colonia Madrid".

Finally, Pére reiterated, as in all the initiatives carried out by the City Council, the need to reach "the highest levels of universal accessibility" that must be "especially cared for in municipal facilities" as he specified " they will be in the new Raúl Mesa pavilion”.
