Kaufmann directs the construction of the ‘Wall of Diversity’
Social Welfare and Equality departments organize an Urban Art workshop on the occasion of Pride 2021
On the occasion of the celebration of Pride 2021 in Benidorm, the councils of Social Welfare and Equality have organized an LGTBIQ + Urban Art workshop that has been held since Monday 21 and has concluded today, Friday 25, at 'La Torreta' Social Center directed by Kaufmann.
The workshop has dealt with training aspects such as prevention in sexual diversity and gender, subjects that have been taught by the specialized staff of the City Council. After the theoretical part, the students have built the ‘Wall of diversity’, guided by Kaufmann. A structure made of cubes and painted with graffiti in the colors of the rainbow, representative of the LGBTIQ + movement.
Kaufmann, is the artistic project of the British painter James Marr, closely linked to the city of Benidorm. An initiative that, through abstraction, the geometry of thick lines and flat colors turned into symbols, hides mathematical coordinates and games and ingenuity exercises that allow the viewer to reflect, which, in this way, mutates part of the work, as the City Council has wanted to show with the realization of this experience.
Students from TAPIS (Pre-employment Social Insertion Workshop), CEEM (Specific Center for People with Mental Illness), CRIS (Center for Rehabilitation and Social Integration) and minors with judicial measures participated in the workshop. The resulting structure, the ‘Wall of Diversity’, will be exhibited on Monday 28 at the Espai d’Art in the City Hall lobby and in the afternoon at the Youth Information Center (CIJ), located on the ground floor of the town hall building.
