City council and organization begin the preparations of the test and design the itinerary of the neutralized start

The second stage of La Vuelta 2019 will depart from Foietes and tour Poniente area

Mercasa and Foietes Park will host recreational activities for the little ones on the morning of August 25

The City Council and the La Vuelta 2019 organization have begun to plan how the second stage of the cycling event will start, starting on August 25 from Benidorm and reaching Calpe after touring part of the interior of the province of Alicante. A stage that will departure from Foietes and that will cross the zone of Poniente, according to what the mayor, Toni Perez, has advanced today after the technical meeting celebrated this morning in which the councilman of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate; Pedro Lezaun, Production Director of La Vuelta; responsible for Unipublic; municipal technicians and the Provincial Council of Alicante; and Local Police, have participated.

Pérez has indicated that it will be "a neutralized exit of 7 or 8 kilometers through the municipality of Benidorm" with a route in which "the runner enjoys the city", and that will focus on Poniente area after the departure of the penultimate stage of La Vuelta 2016 will focus on Rincón de Loix and the first line of Levante. The mayor has indicated that with the itinerary that is being finalized "we bet for a fresh image with our beach and our neighborhoods as protagonist" and that it will arrive live to more than 190 countries through Teledeporte, which will broadcast the test in its entirety.

The Start Arc will be located in the area of ​​Foietes. From there, at around 1:00 pm, the runners will head towards Beniardá Avenue and through Jaime I they will arrive at Poniente Beach, to later connect through the avenues Juan Pablo II and Mayor Eduardo Zaplana with the CV-70 in the direction of La Nucia; all of them are routinely used by bike users and cycling enthusiasts, since they have a bicycle lane. Also in the area of ​​Mercasa and Parque de Foietes will be installed the Vuelta Park, which will offer recreational activities for the little ones and which will function as the epicenter of "the great sports party" of this second stage.

The mayor thanked the Provincial Council of Alicante for its "firm commitment to unite sport and tourism, taking advantage of the international projection of La Vuelta to promote the tourist areas of the province, and especially Benidorm"; and he added that in the coming months there will be technical meetings to "finalize the necessary devices to host this great sport festival in the city".

La Vuelta 2019 will be played from August 24 to September 15. The second stage will run on August 25 and after marching through the streets of Benidorm will move into the regions of Marina Baixa, l'Alcoià, El Comtat and Marina Alta until you reach Calpe. In total 193 kilometers by winding terrain, with two ports of 2nd category and one of 3rd.
