The goal is to ensure that this traditional card game is not lost and to have more couples for the competitions that are organized

Sant Antoni commission is launching a free workshop to learn how to play Truc from April 1 to 4

La comisión de Sant Antoni pone en marcha un taller gratuito para aprender a jugar al ‘truc’ del 1 al 4 de abril

Festa Sant Antoni committee announced today the organization of a free workshop to learn the traditional card game of "truc" (truc). This is intended to promote and preserve a deeply rooted tradition in the Benidorm orchard area, "ensuring its continuity for future generations."

This was announced by the Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, at a press conference, where she was accompanied by the president of the Sant Antoni committee, Irene Maris, and the vice president, Paco Berenguer. "It's a way to maintain a tradition of this region that we don't want to lose under any circumstances," stated Cebreros.

The workshop will take place on April 1, 2, 3, and 4 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will be taught by Juan Luis Hernández at the La Ermita de Sanz bar. “Another goal we're pursuing is to recruit more couples for the championships and competitions organized during the festivals,” stated Irene Maris.

This year's event will be the 37th Truc championship organized, “and it's a good activity because it brings together different generations to promote the game. It unites us as a people,” noted Vice President Paco Berenguer, who emphasized that it's also being held to “attract” more couples to sign up for the competitions.

“In recent years, we've seen a shortage of couples, and many of them were older, so the idea is to help more people learn the game,” added Berenguer. Finally, Mariló Cebreros also wanted to “encourage” everyone, " to sign up for the workshop, because it's a worthwhile activity and contributes to keeping our traditions alive.”
