Researchers from a university in Japan are interested in the management of the DTI in Benidorm and its connection with the future PID

Researchers from Fukuchiyama University in Japan visited the Smart Office of Benidorm City Council today to learn first-hand about the management of the smart tourist destination in the city and its connection to the Smart Destination Platform (PID) promoted by Segittur which will also be based in Benidorm. These researchers have been received by the Councillors for Innovation and the Presidency, Aida García Mayor and Juan Díaz, as well as by the manager of Visit Benidorm Foundation, Leire Bilbao, who have explained to them the work systems that govern the management of the DTI in Benidorm.
These researchers are part of a university research project on the digitalisation of tourist destinations, led by Professor Mitsuru Sato, from the Faculty of Regional Administration of Fukuchiyama University. This research, which has recently been selected as a project of interest by the Society for the Promotion of Science in Japan, aims to “understand the reality and challenges of data management that drive the digitalisation of tourist destinations, by analysing cases in advanced countries and regions in this area to obtain suggestions for the sustainable management of tourist destinations in the future” as explained by those responsible for it, who also considered that “Benidorm’s work is a perfect fit for this research”.
In addition to the municipal Smart Office, during their stay in Benidorm, this Japanese delegation also visited the headquarters of Invattur to obtain more data for this research work.
