The Youth Council has opened the registration period for a Lifeguard course in the aquatic environment that will take place from July 22 to 25 in Benidorm.
Taught by the trainer Miguel Ángel Herrerías, it is aimed at people over 16 years of age and includes theoretical training and practical classes. The classroom training will begin on Thursday 22 (from 5 to 9 pm) to develop, on Friday 23, the first practices in the pool of Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm (5 to 9 pm and Saturday 24 from 9 to 2 pm) , later practices on the beach (Saturday 24, from 4 to 8 p.m.) in Poniente Beach area, close to Club Náutico and dedicating the day on Sunday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) to practices in the sea.
The objective of the course, said the Councilor for Youth Jaime Jesús Pérez, is “to provide knowledge and training to those registered for life-saving actions in the aquatic environment, taking into account characteristics and rescue techniques, developing fundamentals, skills and attitudes to carry them out safely and effectively in an emergency "
The registration fee is 30 euros and can be formalized at Benidorm Youth Information Center, at Benidorm Town Hall.
For the councilor, it is key in this course that the lifeguards "manage to master the different rescue techniques with and without rescue equipment in the aquatic environment and that they know how to control the victim regardless of their state, situation and position in the aquatic environment."
