13 July 2021
Exposición 'Hecho para durar' de Valiente Verde

'Hecho para durar', the exhibition signed by the photographer Valiente Verde 'with which Benidorm recognizes the resistance and effort made by the local productive fabric in a very hard year marked by the pandemic, can be seen from today in the Espais d 'Art Urbà: Els Tolls, El Carrasco and Ponent. Promoted by the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage and curated by Alicia Lamarca, 'Hecho para durar' is composed of 40 portraits of businessmen, merchants, self-employed professionals and essential service workers, being a representative sample of all sectors and activities of the town.
The mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer; the curator of the exhibition; the artist; Today, members of the Corporation have toured the three Espais d'Art to see the 40 images of the exhibition. In each of the Espais d’Art Urbà, they have been accompanied by the protagonists of the different photographs, which will be on display until next October 15.
During the visit, Toni Pérez stressed that 'Hecho para durar' is "a small tribute to the strength of a people, especially to its basic services, merchants and self-employed, to those people who have done everything they could do for the city to have normality within the unusual situation we were experiencing ”.
The mayor has meant that "through these 40 photographs the 70,000 residents of Benidorm are represented, and all the people who lived with us the hardest moments of confinement". Likewise, he highlighted that “in each of the images the artist has introduced the color green to highlight details of the activity of each of the protagonists; a color that is also means hope, in this case to definitively overcome the situation of health, economic and social crisis caused by the pandemic ”.
Toni Pérez has also indicated that with ‘Hecho para durar’ “we transfer to the world who we are, our resistance as a city”; and he has expressed his desire to "later - and sooner rather than later - show the absolute recovery of Benidorm and do it again through the eyes of Valiente Verde".
Alicia Lamarca, for her part, explained that at the origin of this exhibition-tribute are "the stories and uncertainties" experienced by the productive fabric over the last year. From the idea of reflecting that reality, the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage explained, this show arises to which Valiente Verde “has impressed his personal touch and creativity, with touches of humor and ease , with which from the most absolute respect he has captured what Benidorm is like ”.
The artist himself has highly valued the experience lived throughout the creative process of this exhibition; He thanked the protagonists of the images for their willingness to participate in the project and lend themselves to his compositions; and he has moved his intention to return shortly to Benidorm to continue capturing the city and its people.
