The Regional Equality Council meets to coordinate new awareness campaigns
The Marina Baixa Regional Equality Council, in which councillors and Equality technicians from the different municipalities of the region participate, has held its first meeting of 2025 this week to establish the lines of work that will be developed during this year and outline the actions that will be organised jointly to celebrate International Women's Day. The Equality Councillor of Benidorm City Council, Ángela Zaragozí, participated in the working table of this body, which took place in Polop de la Marina as it is the municipality that this year will host the XXIV Meeting of Women in the Marina Baixa, a travelling meeting in which more than five hundred participants are expected to meet.
Zaragozí has pointed out that at this meeting “fundamental issues were discussed that will mark the lines of action in terms of Equality in the coming months, such as the development of awareness campaigns for the prevention of gender violence and the promotion of equality between women and men”.
Likewise, preparations were started for the joint commemoration of International Women's Day, coordinating the activities that will be organised in the different municipalities on the occasion of March 8, a day that symbolises the historic struggle for women's rights. The Benidorm councillor has pointed out that this year “the XXIV Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa will be held in the municipality of Polop and will be held on March 7 at the El Llavador Social Centre”.
The programme planned for this regional meeting includes a reception for the participating women, a welcome snack and comedy and musical performances, among others, as announced in the official presentation by the Councillor for Social Welfare of Polop, Julia Bautista.
