Toni Pérez and Mariló Cebreros congratulate the athletes who carry the name of Benidorm in the most important competitions
Reception at the City Hall for the most outstanding swimmers of 2022
The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, congratulate the Benidorm swimmers, who have recently won championships and tournaments held throughout the Spanish geography. A way to recognize the efforts of some athletes who define the present and future of swimming in the town and who have carried the name of the city through the most important competitions.
After noon, the veteran but always young open water swimmer, Diego Cortés, went to the Mayor's office where, before Pérez and Cebreros, he exhibited his latest medals, diplomas and trophies that accredit him in 2022 as Champion of Spain in Open Water, Spanish Open de Fondo Swimming Masters champion and Spanish champion in the ninth Rescue and First Aid Master, a competition in which he also managed to break the national record.
Next, the turn of the PS Water Benidorm Artistic Swimming Club, represented by the children Enma Alvado, Amy Pina, Inés Devis, Marc Mora, Irene Caro and Naia Álvarez, accompanied by some parents, who have participated in the Spanish Juvenil championships and Intanfil recently held, the first in Palma (Balearic Islands) and the second in Las Palmas (Canary Islands).
In the Juvenil category, Alvado and Pina were proclaimed champion and runner-up in the Figures category and, together with Devis, champions in Duos. Finally, Mora and Caro reached third place in Mixed Duo. In the Infant category, Naia Álvarez won the bronze medal in Figures, which meant that she was summoned by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation to compete in the next Pre-European Children.
Finally, Toni Pérez and Mariló Cebreros welcomed the young swimmer Carlos Rogel, Spanish junior finswimming champion. The man from Benidorm won the gold medals in the 50 and 100 m Bialetas tests and the bronze medal in the Freediving category.
Likewise, Rogel has been one of the eight swimmers selected to represent Spain in the CMAS Junior Finswimming European Championship in the Polish city of Poznan, in which he finished sixth.
