The provincial body collaborates financially with the elaboration of the III Gender Equality Plan
Benidorm obtains two grants from the Diputación for actions to promote equality and prevent gender violence
It also receives a grant for the exhibition of posters against the violence that each year the students of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch make.
Benidorm City Council has obtained two grants from the Alicante Provincial Council to continue developing actions and programs to promote equality and prevent gender violence. Thus, it was reported today by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, who has detailed that "these subsidies come to reinforce the work that has been carried out in this area for some time to advance full and real gender equality, and contribute to the development of concrete actions and planning”.
Specifically, the City Council has received a grant of 2,159.64 euros for the preparation of the III Gender Equality Plan (2023-2028), an amount with which the diagnostic report before the drafting of this document will be completed. Zaragozí explained that "Benidorm is already immersed in the process of preparing the III Gender Equality Plan and for this, once the previous Plan has been evaluated and as a previous step to the new one, a diagnosis must be made of what the starting situation is, which is precisely the phase that we are going to undertake now with the economic collaboration of the Provincial Alicante”.
The councillor has reported that "a few months ago we began the diagnostic phase with a survey open to citizens to obtain a more accurate view of the current situation about aspects such as conciliation, employment, security, use of time, values and opinions ”.
"Once we have obtained the citizen's vision -he pointed out, we now continue the diagnostic phase with the technical contributions, thus having a broader and more exact x-ray of what the starting point is for the drafting of the Plan, in which strengths, weaknesses and improvement proposals will be established that will serve to define the objectives and actions for the next five years”.
Parallel to the preparation of the III Equality Plan, the Department continues to develop awareness actions in specific aspects such as gender violence. Precisely one of these actions, the exhibition of posters against gender violence that is carried out every year by the students of the Artistic Baccalaureate of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, has also obtained the support of the Diputación de Alicante. Thus, the provincial body has awarded a grant of 2,123.55 euros to this initiative within the call for 'Programs for equal opportunities and prevention of gender violence.
Zaragozí recalled that "this project, which addresses gender violence from the perspective of the young population, emerged five years ago" and "in this time nearly 200 male and female students have participated in it." During this time, "the project has become a curricular activity within the subject of 'Audiovisual Culture' that the students of 1st and 2nd year of Artistic Baccalaureate of the IES take".
During the course, the young people receive training in gender and equality to be aware of the problem, and later they make a collection of posters, simulating a commission”. Through this collection, "it is denounced and made aware of the great problem that male violence represents."
