CEIP 5th grade students Miguel Hernández read the book by Joanot Martorell with members of the Corporation
Public reading of ‘Tirant lo Blanc’ to commemorate Dia de les Lletres Valencianes
Benidorm today carried out a public reading of ‘Tirant lo Blanc’ at l’Hort de Colón to commemorate Dia de les Lletres Valencianes; a public reading that had to be postponed on November 20 due to rain. The 5th grade students of CEIP Miguel Hernández have been in charge of giving voice to the book by Joanot Martorell, together with the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer; and members of the Municipal Corporation.
Pellicer highlighted that “after the health situation forced this reading to be done online in 2020, this year it has returned to its traditional location, Casa Museo de l'Hort de Colón, one of our most significant heritage sites and in the open air in which the students have enjoyed a cultural and recreational day ”.
Tirant lo Blanc is considered one of the most important books in world literature and the masterpiece of the Valencian Golden Age. Started with the book by Martorell, it was finished by Martí Joan de Galba's book. Miguel de Cervantes himself defined it in the mouth of Don Quixote as “the best book in the world” and “Tesoro de contento y mina de pasatiempos”.
