The Provincial Palace has hosted this morning the presentation of the first Costa Blanca Health and Wellness Tourism Congress that will be held next Friday, April 23, online and via streaming from the SHA Wellness Clinic of l’Alfàs del Pi.

The president of the Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, highlighted that "health tourism is a new opportunity for the recovery of the tourism sector" and pointed out that the province is prepared to better position itself in this field because "it has capacity, services, centers, facilities , research and talent ”, reviewing the involvement of the University of Alicante, represented by the dean Amparo Navarro, who was accompanied by the vice-rector for Transfer, María Jesús Pastor, the director of the University Institute for Tourism Research, José Luís Gascó, and the Director of the Pedro Zaragoza Orts Chair of Tourism Studies, Armando Ortuño, who coordinates and co-organizes the congress event. At the table for the presentation of the congress were also the general director of Tourism, Herick Campos, the mayor of l’Alfás, Vicente Arqués, and the first deputy mayor of Benidorm City Council, Ana Pellicer.

Pellicer applauded the decision of the Provincial Council to promote this congress, highlighting the work of the Tourist Board of the Coast in achieving an international position for the province as a wellness destination. He also thanked the University, the Institute and the Pedro Zaragoza Orts Chair for their "involvement in research in favor of tourism and making available to all the work that, through research, presentations, forums and congresses, has repercussions for the benefit of all ”.

The first deputy mayor of the Benidorm City Council has indicated the suitability of holding this first congress at the SHA Wellness Clinic, in Serra Geleda Natural Park, which Benidorm shares with l'Alfàs, highlighting its involvement and good work in this countryside.

Pellicer highlighted the suitability of the dates and theme of this congress that she considers "an excellent opportunity for Benidorm on the offer of this industry that in our city was the one that opened us to the world of tourism at the end of the 19th century. The mayor abounds in the concept of Wellbeing, pointing out that “the universalization of vacations, bringing rest, leisure and enjoyment of free time by the sea to everyone is, perhaps, the main contribution of Benidorm and the rest of the Coast Blanca to this concept of well-being that produces in all the 'sun and beach' ”.

Pellicer recalled that the proposal of the Provincial Council when launching this appointment, is the one indicated by President Mazón, when he stated that “it is time to take advantage of this opportunity, assess the real potential of the province and effectively structure a growing sector, outlining common strategies, emphasizing that we are a safe destination, with a favorable climate, natural and cultural resources and a wide range of first-rate hotels, spas and clinical centers ”.

Finally, Ana Pellicer encouraged the registration and participation in this first International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism, thanked the prestigious group of speakers for their contribution to better understanding this tourism modality, and the sponsors for their valuable support.
