The event aims to promote beach volleyball among young people and more than 200 participants are expected

Poniente sports area will host the IX Costa Blanca Beach Volleyball ‘Hijos de Pedro Alós’ this Sunday

La zona deportiva de Poniente acoge este domingo el IX Costa Blanca Beach Vóley ‘Hijos de Pedro Alós’

This coming Sunday, August 4, the sports area of Benidorm's Poniente beach will host the ninth edition of the Costa Blanca Beach Volleyball 'Hijos de Pedro Alós', a sporting event that was presented this morning at a press conference at the Town Hall with the presence of the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, Pedro Alós himself and the former Olympian Raúl Mesa, president of the Club Vóley Playa Poniente Benidorm.

The tournament will begin at ten in the morning until 2 p.m. and then resume at 5 p.m. with more matches, trophy presentations and gifts at approximately 7:30 p.m. To promote beach volleyball, the Club Vóley Playa Poniente Benidorm and the city in general, the tournament is aimed at players of all ages and levels. Young people, born in 2018, will take their first steps in the world of competition and the most experienced in the senior category.

As detailed in the presentation, one characteristic of this tournament is that the teams must be mixed, “which adds an exciting and challenging element to the competition” said Raúl Mesa. It is expected that this year the participation will be greater than other editions with the arrival of several teams from clubs throughout the province of Alicante. Pedro Alós has specified that “in other years we have had around 140 participants, but this time we believe that we will exceed 200”.

The morning session will be full of matches and skills on the sand. After the break for lunch, the players will return to the sand for the afternoon session. “However, it is not all about competition, since for the youngest of the club's summer schools, the most important thing is integration into the group and having fun,” said Alós.

At the end of the matches, the kickoff contest will take place, in which the youngest will try to demonstrate their skill to win prizes. The event will end with the presentation of medals and prizes to the winners of the different categories.

Javier Jordá, for his part, has highlighted the “perfect location” that is Poniente Beach and the “commitment to sustainability” that the event entails.
