Benidorm exhibits from today until April 30 the exhibition 'Small invitations', made up of 55 portraits that appeal to feelings
The photographer José Bravo invites from the Espais d'Art Urbà to contemplate the world with another look
‘Pequeñas invitaciones’ is the proposal of the photographer from Castellón José Bravo that from today until April 30 is exhibited in the six Espais d'Art Urbà in Benidorm and in which the author "invites us to contemplate the world with another look, cleaner, open-minded; to discover ourselves; and to capture the details and moments offered by the environment and the society in which we live”.
This was expressed today by the acting mayor and Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, during the opening of the exhibition, in which the author himself and members of the Corporation also participated.
Pellicer has pointed out that in each of the Espais d'Art Urbà, José Bravo "urges us to carry out a concrete action: to believe in magic, to free ourselves, to truly look at ourselves, to let ourselves be supported, to enjoy ourselves again and to allow ourselves curiosity". “In short, actions that by themselves or together lead us to reflect on our way of life and on how we communicate and relate to ourselves, with others and with what surrounds us”, she added. And all this, through the portrait.
In total 'Little Invitations' is made up of 55 photographs, in which the human being is the protagonist. The author himself has explained that most of these photographs are "moments captured at random" and in which beyond the person portrayed, the aim is to capture the feelings that surround them. “I am interested in not forcing anything, the natural”, and from there inviting the viewer “to reopen their gaze” to “places that, due to haste, we have stopped looking”. In short, to remind you that "in any corner there are wonderful beings and precious moments", and invite you to "look for loving and inspiring moments in the noise of our cities".
In this regard, the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage has highlighted the artistic gaze of José Bravo combined with his training in Psychology allow him in each photograph "to capture and express feelings in a subtle and very elegant way". “It is a very special exhibition that will not leave anyone indifferent”, which “represents all of us, without distinction”, and in which society is portrayed “in all its diversity and variety”, she added.
José Bravo, for his part, has been enthusiastic about the fact that 'Little Invitations' is exhibited outdoors, in the Espais d'Art Urbà. Thus, he has assured that "I am very interested in taking that part of intimacy" that is in the portraits to a public space and putting it "in dialogue with people so that it can inspire". It is, he has pointed out, "a circle that closes: the street gave me moments and I give back what it gave me".
Pellicer has encouraged the public "to tour each of the Espais d'Art Urbà to complete the interior and exterior tour that José Bravo proposes, also enjoying some photographs and delving into the feelings that the author has wanted to convey to us".
Likewise, he thanked "the magnificent work of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, which always offers us a high-quality program, with exhibitions that are not only thought from the artistic point of view but also from the emotional point of view", since "they seek to give the spectator and the city at all times what it may need”.
Distribution of ‘Pequeñas Invitaciones’
Each of the Espais d'Art Urbà constitutes an invitation by José Bravo. Thus, in Ponent, the author proposes to believe in magic again, in that something can happen around us; while in Els Tolls he invites us to liberate ourselves, to rely on someone to be who we are and how we are. 'And if we really looked at each other?' is the proposal in Carrasco, where through ten photographs the author appeals to face who we are, without fear and without prejudice.
The invitation at l'Espai d'Art Urbà El Pont is to lean on others, on someone special, and to be able to show our weaknesses. L'Espai Hispanitat leads us to live every moment and to resort to those good moments whenever necessary. Finally, at l'Espai d'Art Urbà El Campo invites us to recover the curious eyes of childhood and contemplate with them what surrounds us like a world yet to be explored.
