Staff from the ‘Benidorm IX’ Employment Workshop is carrying out actions to improve pedestrian accessibility in the upper part of Rincón de Loix, within the practical training included in this program. The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, and the mayor of Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, visited Pekín Street today to see how these works are developing.
Gómez recalled that "the‘ Benidorm IX ’Employment Workshop is a program with which 20 unemployed people have been hired, who for a year will receive theoretical-practical training at the same time that they provide a public service." This edition, which began at the end of December, has two training modalities, ‘Auxiliary operations of rigid finishes and urbanization’ and ‘Auxiliary operations of administrative and general service’, with 10 participants each.
The Councilor for Public Space has explained that “the participants of the program assigned to the first modality are at the moment in Pekín Street putting into practice the acquired knowledge, so that later, as their training progresses, they carry out repair work in the Parque de l'Aigüera , giving continuity to the action carried out in the previous Employment Workshop ”.
This employment program has a grant of 480,412.80 euros from LABORA, while the City Council contributes 55,000 euros. In total, the endowment for the ‘Benidorm IX’ Employment Workshop amounts to 535,412.80 euros, which includes the hiring of the program's teaching team, made up of 6 professionals.
The councilor for Employment and Local Development recalled that "there are now eight editions of this type of program that have been completed and that have served to improve the employability of the participants, who have increased and diversified their skills and knowledge in different specialties formative ”.
