Minute of silence in Benidorm for the seventh woman victim of sexist violence in Spain in 2021
This afternoon, councilors, public workers and neighbors have gathered in silence in front of the main door of the Benidorm City Council in support of the relatives of the latest victim of sexist violence in Spain, a 36-year-old woman from the Leonese town of Mansilla de the Mules.
The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí and the municipal corporation has expressed in this way its strongest rejection of gender violence and has shown its commitment to its eradication.
The woman has allegedly lost her life at the hands of her partner, a man who has already been detained by the Civil Guard and who is in court. The couple had no children, nor were they married. They had recently broken their relationship.
With this, there are now seven women victims of sexist violence in Spain so far this year, a scourge that also leaves three underage orphans. The Department of Equality recalls that the Benidorm City Council makes specialized personnel available to any woman who needs it and insists on the convenience, in the event of any hint of violence, of the use of the free telephone number against gender violence, 016, which answers in 53 languages 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, also leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it after using the mobile phone call log.
