In this street the cultural axis formed by Museu 'Boca del Calvari' and 'l'Hort de Colón' come together

The pedestrianisation of Tomás Ortuño, promotes traditional commerce

La peatonalización de Tomás Ortuño, potencia el comercio tradicional

The cameras of the traditional trade promotion campaign 'Benidorm fet a mà' have moved this morning to Tomás Ortuño street, one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city. The initiative, developed jointly by the first-year students of the Degree in Marketing and Advertising of the IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch and the Councils of Commerce and Employment, have sought, in this first visit to the area, the opinion of some of the establishments with more tradition and have tested among the owners the effects of the urban reforms that have been carried out recently.

The head of Commerce, Ana Pellicer, accompanied the students Adrián Luengo and Roberto Martínez, recording the interviews and after the first exchanges of opinion with the professionals highlighted "the significant increase in pedestrian traffic" and how the traders " are being adapted" to a new profile that incorporates, for example, tourists who "used to just walk along the beach". The councillor, who is also councilor for Culture, emphasized that this has also helped the fact that in Tomás Ortuño street "come together two axes of cultural revitalization of the city like Museu 'Boca del Calvari' and 'L' Hort de Colón '".

The work of pedestrianisation of Tomás Ortuño street began last year in its lower part and in 2018 the upper part have been completed. In this first visit to the street of 'Benidorm fet a mà', the shops that have participated are Hardware Store Costa Blanca, Llorca Supermarket, Nuts 'El Buen Gusto', Maravall Graphics, La alacena blanca and Minigarden.
