The Governing Council approves the new accessions and analyzes the actions carried out in the first half of the year to promote employment in the region

Pacte per l’Ocupació in Marina Baixa incorporates six new collaborating entities

El Pacte per l’Ocupació de la Marina Baixa incorpora seis nuevas entidades colaboradoras

The Pacte per l'Ocupació de la Marina Baixa (POMB), of which all the municipalities of the region and other social agents are parts, such as the UGT unions and the Workers' Commissions or the CEV business confederation, unanimously approved the accession of this Thursday to the same of six new collaborating entities to work side by side with this body in a common objective: to diagnose the main needs that the region has in terms of employment and contribute to improving employability and the conditions of the labour market in this territory.

The POMB Governing Council met this morning in the plenary hall of the Benidorm City Council, as the municipality holds the presidency in the figure of the councillor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, to address this and other issues, as well as to report on the activities carried out in recent months, such as orientations, workshops and talks with people who are unemployed or interested in improving their employment situation, in addition to announcing the rest of the actions that are scheduled until the end of the year.

The six new entities that are going to join the Pacte as collaborators are the Association of Hoteliers and Entrepreneurs of Altea (AHEA); the Local Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of Altea (ALCEA); the Association of Concessionaire Merchants of the Altea Municipal Market; the Spanish Confederation of People with Disabilities (COCEMFE); the Valencian Federation of Associated Work Cooperative Companies (FEVECTA); and the National Organization of the Spanish Blind (ONCE). After their incorporation into the POMB was unanimously approved, Mónica Gómez explained that all of these new collaborators shortly formalize the signing of the membership agreements and will join the other 23 entities, organizations or educational centres that have already done so previously.

The president of the POMB and mayor of Employment of Benidorm City Council has highlighted that the interest shown by these entities to collaborate in the Pact is “a boost to the actions that we have been carrying out since this territorial pact was launched and a recognition of the work well done”, conveying that the POMB “is held up as an example of good functioning” in other territories. For this reason, Mónica Gómez has been the first to thank the work being carried out by the technical staff hired to manage this organization, a gratitude that has been joined by the representatives of the rest of the city councils and the unions present at this meeting.

During this meeting of the Governing Council, the municipalities and entities of the Pacte have also approved the balance of training and employment promotion activities that have been developed to date, with the labour insertion of priority groups as the main objective. In this sense, the techniques have shown that in these first six months of the year, surveys have been carried out in companies, training orientations, workshops and conferences, all of them aimed at improving training and employability throughout the territory of the Marina Baixa.

Regarding the actions to be carried out until the end of the year, they have stated that they will cover different areas and have diverse themes: from how to find work with a mobile phone to how to create a personal brand, how to become self-employed or how to create a capsule wardrobe for successfully pass a job interview.

Likewise, during the meeting other issues regarding the internal functioning of the POMB were also addressed, such as the balance of expenses, the justification of subsidies, or the lines of work for the immediate future. Some members presented proposals for new actions to be developed in the coming months.

Finally, the president of the Pacte has invited all participants to collaborate proactively with the work carried out by this organization, contributing proposals, sharing information and making its activity known, so that the training actions that are going to be carried out in the coming months can reach the largest possible population and be more effective.

The Pacte per l'Ocupació de la Marina Baixa was established on March 10, 2023, with the signature of the representatives of the 18 municipalities that make up this region, together with CCOO, UGT and CEV, establishing the main lines of action of the project improving the labour insertion of priority groups – young people, women and those over 45 years of age – and promoting specialized vocational training, as well as business management capacity. It has around thirty collaborating entities now.
