Sergi Castillo emphasizes that these resolutions show the mayor's true colors
The Ombudsman closes 13 cases, criticizing Toni Pérez's government for its lack of cooperation

The Socialist municipal group has denounced that, so far this term, the Ombudsman has issued 13 resolutions closing citizen complaints, criticizing the Benidorm City Council for its lack of collaboration by failing to respond within the established legal deadline and failing to address the recommendations proposed by this regional body.
The deputy spokesperson, Sergi Castillo, highlighted that this attitude by Toni Pérez's government has led the Valencian Ombudsman to classify the City Council as a "non-collaborative competent administration," as stated in Article 39.1 a) of Law 2/2021, of March 26, of the Generalitat, "for not providing the requested information or documentation." "In all these cases, the Popular Party executive did nothing, neither responded to this institution nor took the necessary actions to address the recommendations. According to the Ombudsman, this behaviour prevented the effective satisfaction of the rights claimed by the complainants," he stated.
Castillo pointed out that these Ombudsman resolutions "show the true face of Toni Pérez's government." "Far from these image-boosting operations on social media, the facts show us that we are facing a government notable for its opacity and lack of transparency. This is not just the opposition's claim; these are objective data that the Ombudsman has presented to the Ombudsman," he emphasized.
Ombudsman's Annual Report
The Socialist councillor recalled that last year Benidorm appeared in the Ombudsman's Annual Report as a prominent example of a lack of transparency by limiting access to documentation requested by the opposition. In this regard, he noted that the Valencian Ombudsman confirmed in his report the "boss-like" attitude of Toni Pérez, who "tries to cover up his authoritarian tendencies with photos and smiles."
Finally, Castillo emphasized that, given the large number of resolutions criticizing the City Council's lack of collaboration with the Ombudsman, we will reappear in the yearbook and once again be in the news due to the lack of transparency in Toni Pérez's administration. "We believe the mayor is making a serious mistake with his continued confrontation and lack of collaboration with an institution characterized by its independence and impartiality and whose mission is to safeguard citizens' rights," he stated.
