With the help of Benidorm Film Office, Isabel Coixet's feature film shot in the city is up for this award along with four other films
‘Nieva en Benidorm’, candidate for the 10th San Sebastian Gipuzkoa Film Commission Award
‘Nieva en Benidorm’ the feature film shot in the city by the filmmaker Isabel Coixet is one of the five candidate films for the 10th San Sebastian Gipuzkoa Film Commission Award, as confirmed by the organization of this award. Coixet's film, starring Timothy Spall and Sarita Choudhury, comes from Benidorm Film Office for this award, which will be presented on September 24 at San Sebastian Festival.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that “this award, promoted by the Department of Economic Impulse of San Sebastián City Council and the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, recognizes the work of the producers and the Film Office or Film Commission Spanish when it comes to generating employment and business with their shootings precisely in the territories that serve as the stage for these audiovisual projects; as well as the repercussion that these audiovisual projects have on the image of these places ”.
As detailed by the organization in a press release, 29 films were presented for this call, of which five have been selected. During their filming, all of them have had the accredited collaboration of a National Film Commission or Office of Filming.
Toni Pérez stressed that “for Benidorm it is a real pride that Isabel Coixet's film is one of the five finalists and that our Film Office accompanies her in this adventure, thus prolonging the good harmony that throughout the pre-production process and there was filming with El Deseo team ”.
The mayor has stressed that "our commitment to attracting filming and audiovisual projects is firm, convinced of the promotional potential and the generation of employment and economic impact that they have in the city." For this reason, he added, "we try at all times through Benidorm Film Office and in collaboration with the different municipal departments to facilitate the development of these productions as much as possible".
"Opting for awards like this one, and doing it with the help of Isabel Coixet and El Deseo, in addition to being a satisfaction, confirms that we are working on the right track", he pointed out.
The bases of San Sebastian Gipuzkoa Film Commission Award establish that the feature film that best reflects the values of the place where it was filmed obtain a prize of 7,000 euros for the film's producer and 3,000 for the collaborating Film Office or Film Commission.
