City Council and Associació de Penyes are finalizing preparations at the venue, which will have a special bus and taxi service
Nearly 4,800 supporters club members participate this weekend in the Clubs Camp
As in the previous year, the plot located on the other side of the avenue is enabled as a parking lot
Nearly 4,800 supporters from Benidorm participate this weekend in the Camping organized annually by the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', with the collaboration of the City Council, on Juan Pablo II Avenue, where all the preparations are finalized these days.
According to the data provided by the Association, 202 clubs have registered for the Acampada that will occupy the 291 plots that the venue has this year and will host around 4,800 club members, including adults and children. A venue that will open on Friday, the 26th, at 8:00 a.m. and where musical performances, DJs and a band will take place throughout the weekend. In addition, on Saturday and Sunday mornings there will be inflatable games for the little ones.
The Councilor for Festivals, Mariló Cebreros, has indicated that “the Acampada de Peñas is the second event in importance and participation in Benidorm festival calendar; a weekend of coexistence that reminds us that there is just over half a year left until the celebration of the Major Patron Festivities.”
Cebreros reported that "after last year's experience, the plot located on the other side of Juan Pablo II Avenue will be re-enabled as a parking lot, avoiding saturation of the surroundings of this road and also decongesting the parking area of the “Camp enclosure, gaining that space for the enjoyment of the supporters club members.”
As the Penyes Association already announced, you cannot make a fire on the ground or in barbecues, nor can you use electric irons. Only the use of gas is allowed.
The mayor of Fiestas has specified that, as in previous editions, a Red Cross health device has been planned. A Local Police device will also be established and, as usual, special attention will be paid to preventing the consumption of alcoholic beverages among minors.
To reinforce the work of raising awareness about this aspect and responsible consumption, once again, the Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Department of Social Welfare will deploy the 'Coneixement' campaign on Saturday morning. Also on Saturday morning, the Department of Equality will install a 'violet dot' to promote a party free of sexual harassment.
Likewise, as in previous years, there will be a special taxi service – with a stop at the gates – and an urban bus to meet the demand for trips to Juan Pablo II Avenue. Thus, on April 26, 27 and 28, the ordinary service of lines 2 and 3 will be extended until 1:30 a.m., stopping at Alcalde Vicente Pérez Devesa Avenue on the corner of Juan Pablo II. From this same stop, buses will leave for the centre at 06:00 and 06:30 on Saturday and Sunday. Likewise, starting at 7:00 a.m. the usual line 2 service will also operate from this stop.
Finally, the Department of Fiestas and the Environment has asked the supporters' group to collaborate so that "at the end of the Camping the site is clean and free of waste, depositing all the rubbish in the containers installed in the access area to the Camping”.
