Muñoz: "The two electric buses will enter service under the new urban public transport contract."

Councillor for Mobility Francis Muñoz said today that “the two electric buses purchased by the City Council will enter service under the new urban public transport contract.”

Muñoz was responding to a statement issued today by the Socialist Party regarding the deployment of the two vehicles, explaining that “the certification of the buses’ tracking and fare collection equipment is currently pending so that it can be integrated into Benidorm’s regular public transport operations and management system.”

“As soon as this process is completed,” he added, “the buses will begin operating on the city’s busiest routes and in the areas with the highest traffic demand, providing passengers with an excellent travel experience.”

Muñoz also stressed that, “regardless of when these buses were purchased, and in response to the misleading doubts that the PSOE is attempting to create among the public regarding the management and use of public resources, the warranty period will not begin until the two vehicles are actually placed into service in Benidorm.”

“We would have liked the buses to be operational sooner, but we have been dependent on the Generalitat’s new emergency transport contract, which has affected the timeline for our own contract and delayed the planned launch of the service,” the councillor said.

However, he emphasised that “this does not justify the PSOE’s attempt to cast doubt on our actions as though Benidorm were reliving the darkest days of the administration under Cristina Escoda and her colleagues. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
