Benidorm invests €150,000 in improvement works at ten schools during the summer
The completed works include painting, carpentry, electrical and gas upgrades, along with measures to meet the new health regulations and improve accessibility
In addition, several shaded areas have been installed, with a total investment of €48,000
Benidorm City Council will invest around €150,000 this summer in repairs and improvement works at ten public schools across the city ahead of the start of the new school year. The main improvements focus on accessibility, electrical systems, plumbing, gas installations, carpentry, painting, school dining areas and playgrounds. In addition, within this investment budget, around €48,000 has been allocated to three projects to create shaded areas.
The investment includes the purchase of materials and the completion of the works. The projects are being carried out during the summer period, as is the case every year, to avoid disruption to teaching activities and ensure that the schools are ready for the start of the 2026/27 academic year. The works are being carried out by municipal technical services and specialist companies, depending on the characteristics of each project.
Benidorm Mayor Toni Pérez and Education Councillor Maite Moreno visited Puig Campana public school this morning to inspect the progress of some of the works underway at the centre.
Regarding the ongoing projects, Pérez stated that “once again this summer, we are investing in the schools for which we are responsible, namely the Infant and Primary Education centres in our city, to improve their facilities and make these schools more modern, safer and more comfortable spaces for students, teaching staff and administrative personnel.”
At Puig Campana School, the planned works include the creation of a shaded area, improvements to the children’s playground sandpit, the renovation of tree planting areas, the installation of air-conditioning units, ventilation systems in the basement and the adaptation of dining room doors to comply with health regulations.
At Vasco Núñez de Balboa School, a new shaded area will also be created, and the school dining room will be adapted to health regulations regarding the serving window and double-door system. Likewise, at CEIP La Cala, carpentry repairs and electrical works are being carried out, and the installation of an awning is planned to create a shaded space in the Early Childhood Education area. At Miguel Hernández School, materials and electrical installations will be renewed, the kitchen gas system will be replaced, and an accessibility ramp will be built. CEIP Aitana will also receive a new shaded area, its dining room will be adapted to health regulations, improvements will be made to the electrical system and plumbing works will also be carried out.
At CEIP Bautista Lledó, the children’s playground railing will be refurbished, the kitchen gas installation will be adapted, and unused sanitary fixtures will be removed. Likewise, at Els Tolls School, five benches in the playground will be replaced, while painting and refurbishment works are planned for the UECO classroom at Gabriel Miró School. At CEIP Serra Gelada, repairs will be carried out to address damage to the façade. Finally, at Ausiàs March School, the carpentry of the cupboards will be replaced and repaired, and painting works will be undertaken in various areas of the building.
