For the second consecutive year, the salary of politicians and trusted employee of Benidorm City Council is frozen

The municipal Corporation and the temporary workers waive the salary increase approved by the Government of Spain

03 December 2021
Alcaldía

Benidorm Municipal Corporation and the temporary staff will waive the 2% salary increase approved by the Government of Spain. This was announced by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who has advanced that "this resignation will be approved in the next plenary session, after which the councilors will expressly resign, as well as the advisers, to have said rise applied to them. ”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "last year, the Corporation and the temporary personnel already renounced the salary increase for public employees foreseen by the Government of Spain for 2021, and that it was around 0.9%"; a salary increase that "was applied to municipal personnel, both civil servants and labor."
"At the end of 2020 we understood that despite what was established by the Central Government, what had to be done was to freeze the salary of politicians and advisers. A year later, and with many people still having a hard time as a result of the economic crisis caused by Covid-19, we understand that we must act in the same way, renouncing a salary increase that politicians from other administrations have applied, as is the case of Pedro Sánchez's own Executive ”, he added.
Finally he has clarified that, "although the salary of politicians and advisers is frozen, the City Council will comply with the salary increases approved in the General State Budgets for civil servants and labor personnel of the local Administration."
