Chess players from 32 countries in 8 opens and a strong commitment to young talent at Benidorm Lions of Chess for children from 10 to 16 years old

Benidorm Open Chess, an international chess tournament, takes place from December 4 to 12

Toni Pérez congratulates the organization, points out the attractiveness of the city for the success of the tournament and highlights the main components of the competitive sporting practice of chess

More than five hundred people gather in Benidorm, at Meliá Benidorm Hotel facilities, to participate, from December 4 to 12, in Benidorm Open Chess in which semi-professional players and amateurs participate in 8 matching tournaments in these 9 days of competition that will add more than 3,000 overnight stays to the city.
Two international open calendar opens with players from 32 countries, highlighting the organization to the representatives of Australia, India, Iran, Malaysia and Singapore for the trip to our city. The Spanish representation reaches 30 provinces of the 17 autonomous communities.
The games will be played in the Swiss mode (9 rounds, 9 days) of "slow games" by the 90 '+ 30 "system per movement that can last up to five hours. The web www.info64.com will inform about the results and the development of the same, offering them live.
The commitment to the youngest players, to create fans, has programmed another 4 simultaneous open in Benidorm Lios Chess, for youngsters U16, U14, South12 and U10, in two days of competition in "quick games" of 20 '+ 5 " . For this particularity of Benidorm Open Chess, the organization has the support of  Benidorm Lions Club, Caixacallosa and the hotel itself.
To encourage participation, there is a prize pool in all categories that, as they are not cumulative, open the range of possibilities. More than 40,000 euros and an attractive program of alternative and parallel activities next to the Fan Zone.
Benidorm Open Chess brings together two special characteristics, the participation of 5 inclusion chess players -blind players and 1 deafblind- that have led to Benidorm Tapis and the active participation of the International Grand Master Manuel Pérez Candelario who will offer a master class and play several simultaneous games of up to 20 players.
The mayor of Benidorm, in the presentation ceremony of the Open has highlighted the advantages of chess as a sport and discipline, noting that "it is a good competition that develops attention, vocation and perseverance." Pérez congratulated for betting on inclusion and for choosing Benidorm to host this test, confirming that "in Benidorm you can do everything, because it is always open, to everyone and for everything"
The sports councilor, Mariló Cebreros, gave the opening blow to the gong, symbolically opening the competition.
