Although the course begins without restrictions due to the pandemic, the City Council maintains the reinforcement of cleaning in Infant and Primary schools and other municipal centers

More than 9,500 students in the 2nd cycle of Infant, Primary, Secondary and post-compulsory education have returned to the classrooms in Benidorm today, on a day marked by normality. In the 2022/2023 academic year in which, despite the fact that there are no restrictions or protocols in force due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the classrooms, the City Council has decided to maintain "the reinforcement of cleaning services in Infant and Primary and other municipal educational centres. This has been transferred today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who together with the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, has welcomed the course in one of the oldest centres in the city, the CEIP Bautista Lledó.

In this centre, and during the school holidays, the City Council has made a series of improvements requested by the management, including "the renovation of the three Early Childhood Education classrooms." And it is that, as in previous years, the City Council has taken advantage of the absence of teaching activity to carry out actions in educational centres for the development of the public school park for the new school year.

A large part of the actions carried out by the municipal Technical Services brigade in schools has focused "on updating the electrical systems of the Benidorm schools, modernizing them to improve energy efficiency."

Added to these actions are "the significant investments made on public roads in the surroundings of educational centres, mainly with the aim of improving pedestrian mobility and guaranteeing safe school routes".

The mayor has reported that "regarding the initial school arrangement proposed by the Ministry of Education for this course, it has been necessary to enable an additional unit for 4-year-olds in the Mestre Gaspar López centre to meet the demand in this cycle."

Toni Pérez has pointed out that "the course in Early Childhood Education of the 1st cycle has also begun in the three municipal nursery schools and the Nanets Early Childhood Care Service (SAPI), where the incorporation of the students will be carried out in a staggered; as well as in the P-2 classrooms of the Vasco Núñez de Balboa Aitana, Mestre Gaspar López and Puig Campana schools”.

As indicated by the mayor, in the municipal network of municipal schools "the schooling of the registered population in Benidorm has been attended, and even at some levels also to the non-registered population" as there are enough places available.

University Transport

Also, this Monday classes have begun at Valencian universities. Like last year,  Benidorm City Council has assumed the provision of the university transport service to  Sant Vicent del Raspeig and Sant Joan campuses, of the universities of Alicante and Miguel Hernández, respectively. The City Council is going to discount Benidorm students 33% of the cost of the trip.
