More than 100 schoolchildren in Benidorm celebrate Valencian Lletres Day with the reading of Tirant
More than a hundred students of Fifth year, Primary School of CEIP Leonor Canalejas and Sixth year of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores Catholic School, have participated today in the third edition of the Valencian Lletres Day organized by the Department of Historical Heritage.
On November 20, 1490, the first edition of Tirant lo Blanch was published, the chivalrous novel by Joanot Martorell, considered one of the most important books of universal literature, a masterpiece of Valencian letters and the Valencian Golden Age. That is why this day was chosen to pay tribute to literature in our language.
In the reading of Tirant, which began shortly after 10 am at Hort de Colón, the Councilors of Historical Heritage and Culture, Ana Pellicer and Jaime Jesús Pérez, along with other members of the municipal corporation have also participated. Each one has read a fragment of Joanot Martorell's work, alternating with the children and also with the neighbors who have joined the initiative so that Tirant and his beloved Carmesina revive, once again, their adventures in Benidorm.
