The monumental sculptures of the 'secret garden' by the Belgian artist Arne Quinze arrive in Benidorm

Benidorm opens this September a new outdoor sculpture exhibition this. The monumental pieces from 'My Secret Garden' series by the Belgian artist Arne Quinze are already being installed on Paseo de Poniente, where they will remain until next May, according to the councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, today. which has reported that "it is expected that the assembly work will end tomorrow".
'My Secret Garden' is made up of six sculptures "very colourful, several meters high and wide, made of aluminium, which represent different aspects of evolution and appear light and fragile to the viewer's eyes." Some pieces that "the author himself will explain on September 15 during a guided tour of the exhibition that is open to all citizens and will take place from 7:30 p.m."
The councillor has reported that "the pieces will be installed in the section of Paseo de Poniente closest to La Cala, from the intersection of Armada Española and Vicente Llorca Alós avenues to Puerto Rico avenue, where the large sculpture located of the swans of the Taiwanese artist Hung Yi”.
Pellicer has assured that with this new exhibition "currently, sculptures by three internationally renowned artists such as Hung Yi, Juan Mejica and Arne Quinze coexist on our Paseo de Poniente, consolidated as an open-air museum".
“Few cities in the world –he has deepened- can boast of having in less than a kilometre such a concentration of first-class sculptural art as the one that Benidorm now presents; a circumstance that confirms the great interest that our city arouses among artists and cultural promoters, who each day trust more in the potential of our urban fabric as an exhibition space”.
The person in charge of Historical Heritage has added that "Paseo de Poniente or Mediterráneo avenue and its surroundings present a unique and avant-garde architecture and design that makes them really attractive to exhibit artistic creations, whether they are sculptures, photographs or installations".
Lastly, Pellicer highlighted that 'My Secret Garden' is "the second sculpture exhibition to come to Benidorm at the hands of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, which has also recently collaborated with the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage in the shows 'The Towers of the Alhambra', by the artist Cristóbal Gabarrón, which from mid-June to the end of January can be seen in the Plaza de la Hispanidad, Gambo street and Mediterráneo Avenue”.
