This measure is contemplated in the SUTP and will allow the parking of up to six buses at the same time
Mobility enables a discretionary transport stop opposite Elche Park that will alleviate traffic in Los Almendros street
The Department of Mobility has enabled in front of Elche Park a stop with capacity to house up to six buses of public and discretionary transport and that will alleviate the traffic of this type of vehicles in the avenue of Los Almendros.
The councilman of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate, clarified that this measure, claimed by the Local Police and the Association of Travel Agencies (Avibe), is included in the Sustainable Urban Transport Plan (SUTP); a document that at the moment is open to the participation of the members of the Mobility Council and to which "some associations have already submitted suggestions".
De Zárate recalled that nothing to present the PTUS was already regulated by signaling the temporary parking of buses on the avenue of Los Almendros. Thus, the stop of the upper part to public transport was reserved, and that of the lower part -between Roldán and Marqués de Comillas streets- to the discretionary "always with passengers with suitcase".
A measure, he explained, that had to complement "with the implementation of this new stop in the street Mayor Jose Such", which was the ideal location for traffic, proximity and for being the Park of Elche a reference easily identifiable for visitors. At this moment, action is being taken in the area such as pavements and roadway, and installing vertical signage at this point.
The councillor remarked that with the creation of this new stop, "the Local Police already has the weapons to be able to regulate without any inconvenience the bus traffic in the downtown area", since in case of the Los Almendros stop When it is busy, the collective transport vehicles can be forced to move to the new space in front of Elche Park.
De Zárate ensured that the creation of this stop is "a very important improvement for the mobility of the city and for the residents of Los Almendros", since it will reduce the presence of buses parked on this avenue and with it the noise problems.
