Benidorm and Palma lead the Smart Tourist Destinations strategy in the Spanish Network of Smart Cities
Rivas-Vaciamadrid has been the venue chosen to celebrate the conference Dialogues of the RECI (Spanish Network of Smart Cities), where the Future of Smart Cities has been discussed, a meeting in which Benidorm has participated, as co-director of this working group together with the City Council of Palma.
Regarding the lines of action to be developed throughout this 2018, the generation of a map of national experiences for the DTIs stands out, as well as the creation of an official guide that summarizes the main innovative actions to be developed in the coming years by the tourist destinations, based on innovation, sustainability, accessibility and technologies. The importance of external collaboration for the preparation of official documents, such as guidelines for the implementation of official recommendations, joint European projects, specific forums, etc., has also been highlighted.
Another important initiative is focused on collaboration to create sustainability indicators through European intervention, presented by the Valencia City Council in collaboration with Benidorm, a pilot city selected to deploy these indicators. Other aspects dealt with in this meeting were the joint purchase of energy, the management and deployment of charging points for electric vehicles and mobility management platforms.
